Ms. Fox is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and attended Villanova University just outside Philadelphia. She graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, a concentration in Criminal Justice and a minor in English. Ms. Fox relocated to South Florida to attend Nova University Shepard Broward Law Center in Davie, FL. While at Nova, which became Nova Southeastern in 1994, the year of her graduation, Ms. Fox was a Member of the Moot Court Society and acted as its Competitions Editor for two (2) years. Ms. Fox honed her family law litigation skills during a semester long Family Law Civil Clinic during which she practiced family law and represented the public under the supervision of the Clinic Director. During her last year at Nova, Ms. Fox took and mastered a Family Law Litigation course, which allowed her to focus on her client contact and litigation skills in family law matters.
After becoming a Member of the Florida Bar in 1995, Ms. Fox practiced family law and Immigration in Miami where she started the Law Offices of Yolanda L. Fox. In 1999, Ms. Fox relocated to Broward County, Florida where she became a Member of the Broward County Bar Association and its Family Law Section. The offices have remained in Broward County, Florida, however, Ms. Fox accepts matters throughout the State of Florida and has practiced before the Court in Duval, Hillsborough, Indian River, Miami-Dade, Orange, St. Lucie and Palm Beach County.
As part of her celebration of 25 years of the practice of law, the Law Offices of Yolanda L. Fox were rebranded in October 2020 and became The Fox Family Law Center, P.A.
The Fox Family Law Center, P.A. is a full-service law firm representing clients in matters of divorce, paternity, child(ren)'s issues such as parental responsibility, parenting plans, child support (current and retroactive), equitable distribution of property, including complex distribution issues, alimony, adoption and domestic violence issues. Attorney Fox has thorough knowledge and experience in the family law arena.
As a Former Florida Supreme Court Family Mediator, Attorney Fox assists Clients in
determining the path for their lives after the divorce or paternity issues. Reaching a settlement at Mediation allows the parties to reduce the amount of emotional and financial stress that is part of the litigation process. Being a Family Law Attorney and a Former Family Mediator is beneficial in that she is familiar with the law and procedural issues affecting the parties and is capable of assisting those who seek to resolve their matter more amicably than through litigation.
Attorney Fox also accepts appointment as a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) to represent the interests of children whose parents may be involved in a divorce and/or domestic violence matter. This appointment usually involves the investigation of certain allegations being made by one or both parents, which affect the children. The GAL typically makes recommendations to the court in the form of a Report. A GAL is helpful mainly to the court because there are people and/or information that would not be readily available or accessible to the court and the GAL is able to obtain certain information and to speak with the appropriate people. Under statute, the GAL is allowed to present hearsay evidence, meaning the GAL can state what other people who are not before the court said. This work is satisfying because sometimes people make certain allegations without the ability to properly present them. When the child is protected and/or the truth is determined, justice prevails.
